A room, garden or driveway at someone's home is often cheaper than a hotel and more personal than a busy campsite. It's also a strong plan B when campsites and hotels are full. This page explains what to expect and what to check carefully.

What to expect

Offers range from a tent pitch in the garden to a guest room with your own key. Facilities, quiet, breakfast and parking vary by host. Agree in advance: arrival time, what's included, pets in the house, and how you'll get to the start in the morning.

What it costs

Usually cheaper than a hotel, and often similar to or cheaper than camping, depending on facilities and distance to Nijmegen. Ask for an all-in price per night (including any extras) and how payment works (cash, transfer, in advance).

What to pay attention to

• Distance to the start or route, and how you'll cover it in the morning
• Exactly what's included (bathroom, towels, kitchen, parking)
• Clear arrival and departure times, including after a late finish
• Access without a car (public transport, bike) if you don't have one
• Only book with clear agreements; if anything feels off, choose another offer
